Following the Israeli Navy’s boarding of the Flotilla’s vessels and the seizure and detention of their crews in complete violation of international law, civil society is reacting and taking to the streets. Following last night’s spontaneous demonstrations across Italy, today, October 2nd, tens of thousands of protesters gathered in Rome and numerous other cities across the country. Further demonstrations are planned nationwide for October 3rd and 4th. This is a spontaneous reaction that opposes, only with the strength of ideas, the self-interested indifference of our government and, more generally, of all EU governments to the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the abusive and illegal expropriations carried out by settlers in the West Bank. The Palestinian cause is once again uniting all those who do not wish to live in a world built on a new, amoral and ruthless imperialism and the rule of the fittest.
